I was told for the 2nd time within the past half a year,

that i was disliked/hated by someone.

Certainly, it doesnt feel good to hear that.

For the first case, it may be my fault and i've apologised abt it

but the party wasn't willing to forgive.

I've been tormented by this issue so many times, i never thought i would

see the light of me being able to give it a decent closure.

But i did it.

And i am happy now,

despite nothing had changed the relationship btw me and that party.

While i basked in the sunlight for the less than what, 2 months?

A close friend just mentioned over dinner that

well, the 2 girls who were meeting my bf for dinner

dislike me.

IF i was able to simply include their names here,

those who know them and me (most likely the hall ppl i guess)

will probably find it utterly weird.

Simply because,

we werent even close to each other.

Or wait, i dont even think we're even seen to be together before.

In other words, we're like strangers.

except for the fact we know the existence of each other.

How did it turn out that way?

I SERIOUSLY DONT KNOW.

Can someone pls explain?

I'm being disliked, or maybe hated, by someone whom i hardly hold a conversation with?

or have any connection/link to?

Or maybe i was disliked because i didnt talk to her/them.

Well, i guess this will remains a mystery unless one of them decides she should let me know.

And yes, i know.

I shouldn't let one person's opinion have an effect on me.

For all you know, she might be wrong.

But she's a close friend of mine and i trust her.

And in any case, it just doesnt feel right or good to know that someone, even has an impression that others dont like you.

Oh god, this reminds me of "He's just not that into you".

only worse.

And it brings me sometime back when, given the situation,

i had to confess to a friend she wasnt exactly well-accepted by some.

Now, im getting the retribution.

Maybe i should just smile like an idiot to everyone i sees.

Better to have ppl thinking im a lunatic,

than ppl disliking me for me just standing there and be who i am.

Yes, I am back and I'm still alive.

And despite me having taken pics of all the hauls ive gotten from BKK,

im kinda getting settled down with my long-forsaken blog.

Nontheless, my life has to be filled with issues

that i would love to voice out on,

be it whether i like it or welcome it, not.

how "drama" huh.

So this time round, it's nth big nor serious.

it just, i guess, serves as a warning or case-study if u like it,

to those who shopped online as frequently as me.

Please,

if you dislike having to hound for the $ you've paid

or you do not have the time or patience for that,

dont shop at lylarose.

This is purely my (virgin and last) experience with them

and it left me so tired i totally barred them from my "to shop" list.

I do not have any bad blood with them/her,

it was just a nasty and time-consuming happening

that i would like to prevent my friends from ever having to go through.

So, in the 1st wk of Dec '08 i saw her 2nd Dec 08 entry and took a liking to a Sexyback dress.

As stated in her terms and conditions, i IB-ed her the amt and left a comment.

After a week of not hearing any news from her,

i checked back and realised she put up a notice there'll be some delay.

Giving her the benefit of the doubt, i just left another comment to notify her of my payment

and left the page.

I was scheduled to leave for BKK on 29th and to zoom past, all in all, i left 4 comments.

Simply asking her to reply my email.

She doesnt even have to send me anything yet, all i ask for is a reply to achknowledge my payment so i know i didnt transfer wrongly.

Of cos i did check my IB and i got it right.

I msged eve to ask her if she purchased from this site

and she said "oh no dear, this site is black listed by many"

and she emailed a few forums with complaints for this site.

SHIT.

Lucky as i am, i was never cheated of my money throughout my 4yrs of online shopping.

only a case or 2 of delaying in returing $$ cos d items i want are OOS.

Trying my luck, i emailed her gmail account

stating that ive paid but there's no reply frm Lylarose.

That was before i left for BKK

and i've also spotted too that she came up with another entry of new clothes.

I was thinking how logical is it to come out with a new entry

when u have not deal with all the payments and sending out of parcels for ur

previous entry.

Obviously, a seller/owner with business ethics wouldnt do that.

I confessed to monster having to be kind of "conned".

At that time, i was seriously thinking that i got conned and 90% of chances that i cant get my money back.

I think the latest i ever gotten a reply after posting a comment is a week but

this was getting out of hand, it was almost a month.

Monster wasnt angry, he just told me that i should be spending my $$ in BBK

since we're gg and it's cheaper there.

True enough, i landed myself in unnecessary shit here.

He offered to email the seller for me if she still doesnt reply.

and i told him that we can do it after our trip.

When i was in one of the internet cafes in BKK,

she replied.

FINALLY.

it was totally unexpected bcos i emailed her without much hopes.

and she basically just left a sentence saying that

the dress i wanted in black is OOS and how abt blue.

Actually i prefer the black one more

but i figured that getting a pc of cloth shd be easier and faster and more possible

than asking her to return me $$

so i quickly settled for the blue one.

i left my address in the same email

to minimise the conversation and question-asking needed.

That was like the 1st 3 days of my trip

and after i came back, still no news.

I emailed her asking why it wasnt sent yet and she replied she posted it out.

FINALLY, this week i received it.

Although Eve encouraged me to reply her email to let her know of my displeasure,

i decided not to.

Just cos i dont want to put myself in such unwanted unhappiness

or any arguments/unfriendly exchanging there might be.

In the forums i mentioned earlier, there were few buyers who claimed

that the seller hurled vulgarities at them through email.

I dont know how credible it is,

maybe the buyers were rude to begin with.

I just rest my case.

With the countless number of blogshops around,

not including the blooming ones,

i just that at the rate she continues doin' that,

she will lose customers.

For me, at the time when she replied me,

she came up with another collection with a very nice top

Club Monaco.

I love it and hesistated in trying again

and i outtalked myself in that

simply cos i dont want to find myself checking IB, tracking my comment in

her comments page anymore.

It was my bad in assuming she's like Tracyeinny

which in my opinion, both are very popular blogshops

with super many pages of comments

(that makes my comment/s harder to find! cos the pg number jumps!)

and TE was always prompt in returning $$ when the item is OOS.

Basically, that's the latest horrible exp i've.

Though it was nth like a heated argument or such,

it was grueling to wait for replies and wonder when one day the parcel will arrive.

so, if u do not wish to embroil in that,

win-win solution is to stay away i guess.

I'm not sure if it is because of recession or maybe that CNY is coming,

it makes it/me harder to get back $$ nowadays.

but i should count myself lucky i guess,

eve is always initating to treat me which makes me feel so bad sometimes,

and friends who take effort to remember to return.

shopping here has been a blast.

Not just that,

my spending power increase double when here

cos everything here is soooo cheap.

if taxi is less than 5sgd almost everywhere we go in spore,

i'll throw away my concession anytime.

and of cos my flats/pumps

been to Pattaya and Damsonen floating mkt and back

and all still within 1k sgd,

not counting all the tomyam goong and good food,

So i managed to get toner and a special product for myself.

the MU range was not attractive at all,

so the only item i got was the nail polish, a vampish purple

just right for the season. (:

Supposedly, this is the toner for dry + acne prone skin.

and i only took the yellow one shown below

but after eve called me and mentioned that the writeup of this makes it sound

like a super gd product

and also, it made it to the "Holy Grail"/"Hall of Fame" of CLEO (i think)

plus, it's only $10. weehhee!

This toner is suited for dry+non acne prone skin

which is very much for me

until recently when the oil glands hidden deep under my skin

decided to be active again

and pimples pop out to welcome xmas.

sigh, so i figured besides this yellow WHITENING (woohoo!) toner

Dermalogica Sale & GH dinner @ Shokudo

Dinner at Shokudo with the Grand Hotel (GH) group was fabulous!

Of cos, it being a favourite and well-partonised restaurant of mine,

the standard of the food and ambience just perfect for gatherings never fail me.

this time round,

with a much noiser (and nosier) group,

u can imagine how hilarious queen, jon n monster's bickering can be!

plus, a bonus point was added when we saw our hall seniors there.

and seriously, i only noticed like 1 or 2 out of the entire group of 8 (?)

for the first 30 seconds before i walked over,

and realised i knew most of them.

HAHA,

talk about maturing huh..

it felt so christmas-sy!

i tell u!
although it lasted me for 2 days,
it works! miraculously!
like the Eye Repair, it made my dark circles lighten by 1 or 2 tones
and totally brighten the skin ard my eye area!

and what is the best abt the products?
i realised the concentrate + Pure light (day moisturiser),
when being used together
not only whiten and brighten the skin,
but it also has a pulling effect to tighten ur skin!
it's fabulous!

so, this sale is unmissable!
my intention was that ive got to see what they've got to offer,
even if the price range was way beyond what i can afford!
i mean, the ChromeWhite TRx range i mentioned above
is retailing like $100 for the eye repair cream,

to get the whole range, u gotta at least fork out $500!

Before we enter the room, we were given sheets of paper that contain the
different combinations of products and the price they fetch.
And although there were a few brands like Eve Taylor
and Skinvitals,
i went just for Derma.
Anyhow, the sheets of info clearly state the Star Buys, Hero Products and others.
What i got is the Star buy (eye cream) + 2 other best sellers
(day & night bright) = $170.

Although it obviously exceed what i usually spend on skincare,
especially when i manage to spot and purchase luxurious brands like lancome
and anna sui cheaply when im abroad,
i really think the derma products are a steal!
the total eye care is retailing for like $95, and together with the day & night,
it will cost $300!
hahah,
im really not making excuse for myself..
hehe

im really so excited abt it,
but i decided to clear some other skincare 1st before i start on these.

I also got these eye masks that got my attention when all the OLs
at the sale with me (they all sacrifice their lunch breaks im sure)

Lotree & BRTC bb cream

With the help of the sunny fairly good weather

and my miraculous bio clock that turns me wide awake at 10,

i took pics of my buyings of ytd (:

At the Cozycot Sale,

i got myself a Lotree BB cream.

im just a sucker for pretty packagin' :D

aint the dark purple pretteeeeh?
well, it resembles very much like the Anna Sui collection.
i even jokingly asked Dawn if she could smell anything rose?
Hahaha.
As you know, rose is the signature "smell" every Anna Sui cosmetic will contain (:

Like i mentioned in ytd's post, as long as you purchase an item from Lotree,

you get to choose one out of four freebs.

the lady asked me to get the cleansing oil,

and her reasoning was that cos it's the biggest -.-

HAHAH

i did choose that in the end, cos the other 3,

UV, loose powder, bb cream (again?),

didn't interest me at all.

Think the cleansing oil will make good for my year end trip (:

Apart from the particular brand's freebs, as long as you spend over certain amt,

you get to choose another reward given by Cozycot

(and i think it's only for Cotters)
The Lotree BB Cream, priced at $56, entitled me to choose sth from Cat A.

And i was WoW by the selection!

There were even Paul&Joe nail varnish but too bad i didnt take a liking to the colors.

i've been meaning to get!

haha, if only the sale have more stuff for me to buy,

it isnt hard to get me spending 200/300 at a sale.
In the end, i got the ZA Dark Circles Gone eye masks.

I heard great raves abt this item.

And initially i thought there's only like 2pairs in the box?

i opened it up while having tea with Dawn

and there's 8 Sets, each consisting a pair!

It's no sample size, it's full retail size!

it makes me a happy girl (:

Now.

Talking about BB cream,

i've no idea when this item secretly crept into my cupboard

and became an essential step in my skincare+makeup regime

but

i absolutely LOVE this!

FYI,

BB cream = Blemish Balm cream.

Claimed to be used and adored by many Korean artisits,

it made its way into S'pore not too long ago.

Its function not only includes giving an even coverage for your face,

it even possess healing effects (eg. on scars and texture of skin)

when used long term.

Now, that answers your wonder of

why many Korean stars have such good flawless skin right?
It seems like they arent wearing any makeup,

but their skin looks so supple, bright and even dewy

and the best of all, EVEN.

meaning no dark spots, freckles, zit, scars.

How can you not love it

after hearing all these?

To me, it has become 1 of the 3 items i will bring with me

if i were to be stranded on an island!

HAHA

With the help of Fr3b,

i managed to try several BB creams under BRTC

without burning the hole in my pocket further

and most imptly,

without wasting!
(like when i find it unsuitable, i'll dump it aside and ignore it.

Out of BRTC BB creams,

these 2 are my favties!

Left: Gold Caviar

Right: Jasmin Water
I find that GC has better and thicker coverage than JW,

more suitable for a long day of wearing and it stays on my skin

as if it has just been freshly applied.

Jasmin Water, on the other hand, is lighter and smoother

and has a mild floral smell that is calming.

Furthermore, it has SPF 30!

you can skip sunblock before this!

or better, if you dont use to apply sunblock, im sure this will improve ur skin!

i highly recommend these 2!

Next 2,

i find them not bad.

Left: Whitening & Wrinkle Repair

Right: Protect Multiplex
The W&R, in my opinion, should be more suitable for matured skin

so it's kinda "strike-off" for me and my peers.

To be honest, i feel there's nth much to comment after using it too.

For Protect Multiplex, it's the most expensive ($59)

and has the most functions

such as sebum control, skin restoring effect, whitening and wrinkle repair.

So if im of the matured group, i would buy this rather than W&R.

HAHA

In my opinion, Protect Multiplex is stickier, or prolly thicker,

than Gold Caviar and Jasmin Water

so i applied lesser, and thus it wont be easy to "push"/"spread"

across your face.

Thinking that the possible lines which might appear after all the "pushing",

it is not the best choice for me.

Last 2,

I've not tried.

HAHA

but they look appealing, dont they?

Glossy.. sounds promising too.

maybe cos i like everything glitter and glossy.

HAHA

Another BB cream i got to try is

Lioele Beyond Solution,

also from Korea.

the packaging is too cutesy for me.

but the quality is good.

Coverage is able to cover my flaws/scars and last me one whole day.

It is even to "push" across the face too.

And what's more, the price.

Only at $36 for 50ml,

really much cheaper than BRTC.

Before you get all confused, Watsons is carrying the GC and JW BRTC cream

and the other 4 is in Guardian.

Dont ask me why they separate it,

i've no idea.

But to prevent you jumping from store to store,

checking prices and items,

i thought i will mention it here.

And also, personally i've dry-combi skin.

Not many ppl have skin like mine,

so before you get all excited and rush to the nearest Watsons/Guardian,

i will seriously recommend you do your own testing.

You can do it the way i did, getting samples

(fr3b has all the creams mentioned above,icon on ur right)

trying them out before concluding which works the best for me.

Well,

since this product has become sth i swear by and cant live without,

i decided to share with u guys!

i truly hope you girls out there can enjoy smooth satin skin

A Hectic Week

What a hectic week the past week has been!

It started out slow on Monday as i ended tuition with the rich indo chinese boy

(his dad owns a ferrari..shudders)

after sending off mummy grams aunt and sam at the airport.

Tuesday was a good one,

started off with lunch with the JC friends.

well, not TJC, they're my 1st 3 mths classmates in TPJC.

Because some were not finished with their papers

and some MIA as usual,

it ended with just us 4.

i tot it was a cozy affair, not the awkward kind that big grp usually brings.

it was really much easier catching up, and we have an absolutely great time reminiscing our JC time and updating each other the goings in our lives now.

(like jeremy is in ADM and i totally hv no idea!)

talk about growing up man,

terms like "that time jc" or "when we're still in jc/students"

make me more weary of my age.

and i said "who knows, prolly the next time we get to sit down and talk again, we may be 25"

ewwww...

After lunch we went separate ways since Mingyi had a doctor appointment and Jeremy has stuff to get (probably xmas present for his gf.. sweeeet)

J and i decided to continue to fill the entire day that brings back "those-days" memories.

after quantum of solace,

we decided to take puri-kura!

it was, in retrospect, our favourite activity in JC.

i still keep the muji organizer pasted with countless loved prints (:

being "rusty", we laughed at ourselves being sloowwwwww..

unable to perform like we did last time.

fast and furious.

now, we mostly stoned and got captured in the mostly unflattering poses.

to make it worse, we forgot to act fast enough to choose 6 pics for printing.

we only gotten 4.

HAHA

it was, all in all, still excited and exhilarating :D

Dinner at The Pasta Shop @ Wheelock was fabulous.

It stands at the previous Sakae Sushi, and is part of the Sakae Sushi group.

The potato salad is a must-try and it's inexpensive (:

they've a wide selection on pasta from dry, creamy, tomato to more adventurous offerings

like the peppery chicken pasta J tried.

Oh, their desserts are awesome too! we got the matcha ice-cream and red bean pudding

and am certainly going back for more!

we ended the day after a loong talk at the Borders Cafe.

i cant emphasize how much it means to me having a person who understands me to the most perfect fit (:

Talking about Jap food, i had it all week!

and seriously when i say all week, i meant everyday!

Besides Shokudo and TPS on tue, lunch was at another jap restaurant at Habourfront

with dearest Dawn over tomyam ramen..

yes, tomyam but it's good. i like it.

As if a routine, we went F21-RiverIsland-Topshop-hopping after lunch b4 i bidded her goodbye.

The next day was to JB,

Haha my weekly affair!

Especially when the movie is only 6ringgit! like 2++ sgd..

a marathon would prolly cost abt 10sgd only!

haha..

and Roost, my favourite hangout place in the M country.

with the company of the funniest trio Jon HC n HJ.

you should really hear how they complain abt the officers.

I thought Friday was the worst being stuck in school to do FYP,

but it was brightened and even out with dinner at Azabu Sabo with

monster, Loy and their "da-ge" CW.

the usual routine of mentioning "bi-bi-bi-bi..JIA" joke,

talk abt the st james night was inevitable.

i thought it was funny to note the difference loy and hc treat cw, as compared to how they treat/talk to each other.

in my mind, i kept picturing cw as those HK black triad boss! haha

no wonder he's a sign-on.. very compartible.

I finally get to meet Eve dear on Saturday,

it's been like more than 3wks since i saw my 2nd best fren (winks*)

haha, so the nuts-abt-shopping pair headed for BYSI sale

and A&F sale which proved to be equally disappointing!

i am so not going to warehouse/clothing sale..

cosmetics sale never fail me before so im gonna stick to them!

haha, but as i said to eve this is my last year to be able to go out on wkdays freely

and go out on wkends w/o feeling tired

so why not?

After all the shit, we settled down at the Seasons Reasons at Raffles City,

a place Eve had always wanna bring me there.

the interior was simple and elegant, white walls with a dash of minimal colors

and silver&white indie frames.

food wise, the club sandwich and grilled chicken burger were satisfying to the gluttons ;)

Eve is like the elder sister i never had, always there to take care of me

and is never afraid to make the 1st move in order to get things right/done

or to protect us both (:

she is my best reward from internship <3>

You know how during exams period, you tend to be restless from

studying and need an energy boost from other sources like TV, net etc?

Well, for me, surfing net at that time was the best catch for me

and having so much time, i enrolled myself into several "contests".

but we met weishu at the entrance and got to know they came to SJ too!

haha, it was set to be the best night ever!

Somehow, loy got me membership too.

he has an ulterior motive to make me sign him in every time from now on!

but in the end, he opened another Johnnie Walker and got the card as well.

When recession hits at the end of the year

and clashes with xmas n d shopping mood

gives u lots of

SALE!

it's the BENEFIT sale, how could we miss it for the world!

It was just like a couple of days before i posted my "extras" boxes

and i thought it would definitely be some time before i started buying any cosmetics again,

guess it just wasnt the right time!

ha!

so my trusted partner who happened to be free that day,

and i were all geared up for the sale!

No matter what people say or may have said about us,

i truly believe our friendship stay true and is absolutely strong

enough to bring us through all rough patches.

and as jace has put it, we've still many years to spend tgth!

The sale was somewhat disappointing!

First, the selection was pathetically little.

Yes, i expected it to be of the same scale as Laneige

(though room may be small, they've lots of stocks)

Perhaps because Benefit doesnt have much skincare.

So, that makes a big difference.

we went within the 1st hour, near 2nd hr of opening.

but the fairer/middle shades of those items for sale were all gone.

like Bo-ing is only left with 03(darkest)

and Some-kind-of-gorgeous is left with deep.

I overheard a girl talking on the phone saying that there were people queuing at 7am

though d sale started at 9am

so the 30pcs of fair/middle tones are all snapped up.

Serious? 7am?

So, this is just the few items i've got.

Hollywood Glo which acts as a finishing touch for facial glow,

we tried it on our hands and the texture felt great and really gives off a pearly finish.

im so excited with this, i gotta mix it with my liquid foundation the next time i leave home!

Jacelyn found High Roller first and just took the bottle up asking if i wanted it as well.

who knows that is the last bottle, we thought they would have more stocks apart from those displayed on the tables.

and it was so hot!

we took the 1st cab when we came out of the underground tunnel

and we asked him for the price.

he quoted $5 but upon reaching the place,

monster gave him 10ringgit and he kept quiet.

monster asked him it's 5ringgit right.

and the cab driver says he said it's 5SGD.

So we just left.

he even critised how bad S'pore is with the F1 night racing,

but it is his territary after all

and we want no trouble.

After which, we walked to nearby Zhu Ling to have Zi Bao Ji

only man-cheryl can eat with Jon and monster,

my chopsticks was just touch and go on the food.

Cabbing down to City Square, we learnt to be smart and

gave the cab driver the exact 6ringgit he quoted.

And, we watched Twilight!

omg, im gonna gushed abt how cute the vampire is and i am so totally in love with the show,

im gonna get the books when im in town the next time!

Cheryl brought us to the Stone-grill restaurant after our movie for dinner,

it was uber fun!

We order a set of seafood and a set of mixed meat,

that comes with fried rice coleslaw and whip potato.

they heated up the "stone" for us which we will use to cook the ingredient oursleves.

to stock up your daily neccessities.

and since it's at expo, even better (:

Basically, this is all i got.

and although it wasnt as crazy as the laneige one,

it's super heavy for me cos i went with my mum&aunt

since they were at home,

and with my baby cousins,

i'm basically the only one carrying all the loot!

The moisturizer+cleaner (+toner for some) ranges are quite good,

i got the hydration ones, for jl as well.

Yeah, exams is over!

I would like to emphasize i do not advocate actions of a miser, i only post to share with people who are genuinely interested in trying some of the products. i personally feel it is a very useful platform, especially when you're looking to change ur skincare series as everyone knows it's not good to stick with one for a long period of time. For example, i wanted to try the Neutrogena one, because Nu Ren recommended it before but as you know, the show is in Chinese so they mentioned "Lu De Qing" and i've no idea it's Neutrogena. Last Sunday night was spent chatting with Jacey darling into the wee hours.

She had just touched down, and despite having 4 flights to and fro KL that day,

she still insisted on meeting up! thanks dear! ♥

Initial plan was to chill out at our usual hangout place,

Starbucks at Eastpoint but she reached home almost at 11pm

so we decided to meet at Downtown East.

Before we MIAed for 4 mths, the Ehub was still building

so that night was the 1st time we've been there since returning!

it has a mini ferris wheel, reminds me of Miramar in Taipei.

While waiting for Jace at her condo.

The security guards thought we were one of those strangers who just pretend we knew someone living in the condo and park our car there instead of the Downtown East carpark to save the parking fees. Haha, lucky jace gave me her block and unit no. before hand, but that doesnt prevent us from being bombarded with many qns, most being "really ar? not parking for the whole night right? really......"

HAHAHA

we spent, well, the almost entire night yakking away.

Speaking of downtown, we saw a Fish & Co. Express outlet

which we knew we gotta try!

Waiting patiently for the food

the wait was quite long, despite the low customer count in the shop.

Finally, the food is here!

The fish and chips were awesome, with a super reasonable price of $6+ for a meal

and the same standard and quality of food as the regular Fish & Co. outlets.

If you're a student, you can get it for $4.50, what a steal!

Haha, i dont know if there are any Fish&Co. express outlets elsewhr, and neither do i want another Takeshi Kaneshiro blopper, so i will just say i really like it and im glad it's near my house! whee! :D more reasons to meet jacey at DTE!

Baby xavier was so cute; i was showing him the pics in my phone (all these pics are taken with the phone) and the pics of fries burgers and fish came up, he giggled so happily and even reach out to "grab" one of the fries in the pic and put it into his mouth.

"NICE!" he said!

Tuesday, 28th Oct was mummy's bday

so i suggest going to Juju Hotpot to have a hellavu good steamboat

instead of the usual restuarant western/chinese cuisine.

we had such a great time! (:

Juju Hokkaido hotpot, was first intro to me by dawn,

and i've been loving it since then!

not only is the service standard 1st-rate,

ambience peaceful (cos not many ppl know abt it and probably bcos of its location),

the food is also fresh and worth every cents,

especially when it includes starter, the main, side dish, iced sour plum juice and even dessert!

of cos, their dessert is superb!
so, it is not surprise that i've been a regular since my virgin experience (:

see the teapot? monster thought it was tea inside, in d end it turned out to be VINEGAR,

his worst nightmare! hahah

some mixed seafood, seasoned egg (japanese, like the one i had at marutama) and what i think is seared tuna.
i cant say which is better becos i love all!

it's super big, good thing is that their table is big enough,

the sour plum juice came when we were finishing our mains,

that's why monster is contented and willing to pose, haha.

i initially thought he would dislike it cos he doesnt take sour stuff,

but alas, to my disappointment he like it.. very much!

as much as i was so tired and restless on friday, i went to

Mount Alvernia straight after lessons.

branded or branding?

Recently i read an article on yahoo! abt the sales of branded labels goign down due to the economic downtown and I had some thoughts which developed ages ago so I decided to blog about.
Since last year, I had the chance to meet people who go for only branded stuff. And sadly, I have to have close and frequent contact with them. So, I notice it is really typical of working class females to dress a certain stereotype, especially during weekends. Two I’ve met, and one came and went, are of a certain Ralph Lauren polo + denim skirt + coach/guess heels + agnes b/LV pouch or bag. Yes, they are of such a breed. And as I’ve mentioned, I had to hold conversations with them sometimes and just two allow me to see what they’re aiming to achieve. More often than not, I look at them wondering what all these branded goods can do to them. They look above average, not exactly pretty but pleasant looking but what strikes me is that they seem to come from the same mould. Actually, take a look when u're in town, it doesnt take long before u notice girls of this type.. it's EVERYWHERE. It strikes me that I genuinely hope not to become such a person when I step into the society, having not much of a unique dress-sense and limiting my own choice to only boutique clothese, but I kinda see it is inevitable too because as melancholy as it sounds, these things might be the few comfort one can get from the exchange of his/her sacrificed time, youth and energy.

After a trip to US and back, I started to see their point. Because I was lucky to earn the American dollars, I shopped like a "heiress" and lived like a king there. Of cos, this is according to my standard. In another words, I have never been that generous with my shopping before. Plus the fact that certain brands such as Coach & Kate Spade are relatively cheap there and even cheaper in outlet malls, what’s the reason of resisting? Now comes the coming back part which I felt had me more of nothing carrying a Coach bag as compared to a Mphosis or a bugis-treet-buy bag. Except for perhaps, occasionally people will look (prolly to guess if it's authentic). And it’s really occasionally. Thus, I realized branded stuff is to enhance your looks, not your status. They give you a more sophisticated look, or the “high-class” look you may need if you are a certain someone. But, they do not make the whole of you up; they just perhaps complete your exterior surface. Some may say since im attractive with both my looks and figure, I can make any clothes I wear into designer wear. That, in my opinion, is subjective too. Most of the time, the quality, cutting and style of the imitated clothes are way different. At least to me, thus I say it’s subjective. And just by the different material used, two exactly similar (we’re not even talking about cutting now) dresses can look so different. So while you are one of the lucky ones who can pull a million dollar look out of cheap great finds, there is definitely a certain something why some designers last and make it to fashion shows and some are only to work himself away somewhere, replicating someone else’s work. Somehow, i wish people will know about the designer and their views on designing more than which bags they should get to impress others.

I have to agree a prestigious brand is the fastest way for someone to look good and noticeable for the right reason. A senior I hang out with recently told me he should have asked me to get more A&F polos for him when I was in the States (I got him one, as he told me to). He said now that he’s working (and his work allows him to wear polo and jeans sometimes), he needs clothes of substance and quality and of course, brand, to look good and nonetheless, superior or of his standard. And I told him, yes branded goods are the fastest method you can acquire the look you want, look at Polo Ralph and AX. I think to myself, people who seldom dress up or have no interest to dress up, or for sadder case, have no fashion sense or even no figure, really has to trade in money to look like how they would like themselves to portray to others. Usually in this case, these people have started working and need to look presentable; and this, I feel have nothing wrong with wanting to buy the brand.

I have seen people earning $8K a month buying a conservative $300 Coach or Burberry label bag and others earning a meager $2K getting a $2K LV/Gucci bag. What can I say? Plus, when I was still a beauty advisor and those who are younger than me (I was 19 then) carrying LV handbags while I’m still in the Zara/Topshop level, I think to myself omg what awful bags? And they stayed on, working now still as a BA, throwing their monthly salaries into these branded boutiques and they go to the 2nd category I’ve mentioned. I always believe people hop on to different shops/boutiques as they age. Thus, there is the targeted group for those marketing people. When I was in sec school, I always thought surfer girls are damn cool so I will save up my pocket money to get roxy and ripcurl boarshorts, ripcurlgirl pencil case and quicksilver slippers and schoolbag. Gradually going to JC, we start exploring MNG, Zara, Guess and Topshop and it pretty much stayed there even when it comes to Uni, except for the occasional Juicy Couture from Ebay and Taiwan sprees. Now, having only less than a year before stepping into the working world, the inner I start to lust for Kate Spade, Agnes B and more. What im trying to say here is that it’s fine to buy and splurge, but do it within your means. Of course im no aunty agony, but what I feel irksome about these people is that they’re so addicted to these so-called brands that they lose their fashion sense (they’re just a replica of the runway models), they also lose identity and faith in themselves. Worse case scenario they ended up with debts. I was just watching MTV channel that day when they showed these 3 girls from US with spending problem, they’re shopaholics and I know many people label themselves as shopaholics but these girls have some serious problem. To an extent, one of them couldn’t even finish her meal with her bf cos the mall is closing and she has to get her pair of boots and in the ends, she bought 10 items in total. She tried to see a therapist and even try selling some of her stuff for a miserable 30USD but she ends up buying a 100ud pair of jeans with the 30usd and some spare cash from her bf. The ending is that she is still in debt of 15K and she is only 20.

So my whole point and kind-of-motto-for shopping is to buy within your means.

Oh, did I mention too, it kind of irks me when girls ask people to get certain stuff for them? It doesn’t matter if it is a wishlist for ur bday or some celebration but if it is not… PLS! i've RESPECT for those who are financially independent and do not need a man for every single buy :D

Saturday was Jace's 22nd bday celebration, eve was going to join us initially but SJ was ill

so next time (soon) yea! and we put dempsey on hold and went indochine at Raffles place instead..

It was fabulous!

We had a fusion of Vietnam and western food, BBQ beef with vermicelli, House salad and the Californian chicken sandwich. with Sunrise cocktail and whatelse, my fav margarita!

the color is perfect, so is the design.

im hooked onto Agnes B because of its simplicity in achieving a sophiscated look.

in another words, not trying too hard.

another fact is that unlike most designers who graduate from design schools and their works usually got discovered before they graduate (think John Galliano), Agnes worked at a flea market after completing arts school.

back back, we had breakfast at Caffe Beviamo

kind of a reminisce for us, just like having American breakfast back in the States.

they even had tipping! HAHAHA

we had banana bread, chicken sandwich and eggs and toast set,

complete with ice coffee

(would have been hot coffee if not for the humid weather :X)

I gave monster Oomphatico's or Caffe Beviamo to choose, glad he made the right choice!

After that, we went to Goldclass at Vivo to catch Mama Mia!

1st 3 pricks are diff species of dust mites which i am, unfortunately, allergic to all.

the nurse say take 24hr to revert to normal, no lo..

Much as i am embarrassed abt it, i am happy with what i seen and gotten

from the 追星 event i did recently.

yes, and it's none other than the korean prettiest actress,

Song Hye Gyo,

that got me out of my shell and took the chance to catch a glimpse

of her when she came over to Laniege counter at Wisma.

I read on the papers it was suppose to be 4pm and when

we pretended to conveniently pass by the counter after lunch

at Ding Tai Feng, we overheard it is at 5pm.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because i couldnt have shown

what is coming next if i reach at 5pm.

the emcee kept saying she's on her way and that

got everyone getting their cams out and snapping away.

In the end, she only arrived at 5.45pm

(yes, i waited almost 2hrs!! faints)

She was standing over at the stage at first and i really couldnt

take any shots of her cos 1.im too short and 2.did u see the bodyguard?

i know i am taking longer than usual to settle down after coming back from a vacation,
perhaps it's bcos this vacation was longer than usual too.

Coming back after a long stay abroad changes alot on my perpectives; unfortunate things happened while good things took place too. Some friends changed, with the slightest details
only someone who had been gone for a good time will be able to notice.

With the physical pain occurring constantly from the extraction of my wisdom tooth and my
poorly recovering health, some poignant facts/stories are amplified in this period.

i cant helped but think what am i to some people?

i know to one particular person, i'm a shopping cart. Literally.
In the States, i was constantly asked to buy some specific item for her and i did.
Come back to s'pore, she forgot when i was back and needless to say, my bday.
she was not in the list of people to even wish me happy bday through sms/email or whatever.
and my guess of she wanting to meet up with me is only for the incentive of getting her stuff.

second person, i would like to think she treats me better when im not around (? yea, im puzzled)
she made me look forward to coming back, only to find out the promises she made are broken.
Nice one.
i tried, a few times, to make some things work and each time she had some reason to back out.
Not that i was betting my pennies that she would try to make it bcos it is obvious when one tries
and one does not. I understand that everyone has their closest grp of friends and of cos they're being put at the first priority and subsequently, come other grps/circle of friends.
Seriously, i did not know we are the bottom few?

third, which does not bother me at all but does trigger my curiosity is the one who is always with me. we spent a great deal of time together, be it good or bad, and most of the time i do enjoy her company. but one darn question left in my mind which will never be answered i guess, bcos i will never reveal. HA

Despite all these bitter grieving, i am pretty happy now.. no more nonsense about my secondary past, questioning myself what would today be had that quarrel didnt occur. Would i still be "privileged" to be in the group with kim, cher, sy, sarah and nat? Nah, such things do not have any impact on me now. Moreover, looking through a friend's blog posting my sec 1 & 2 clique celebrating a girl's 22nd assures me further more. OMG, THEY LOOK LIKE AH LIANS CAN!
so, it further emphasized to me that even if we didnt drift apart in sec sch, we would have by now. becos im just different from them.

Most important is that i've my dearests now, and i always have the stufff they gave me with me to assure me whenever im down - like evelyn's bracelet which says best cos she wanna rmb im the best! (hee, aww..the sweetest thing i've ever heard), jace's panda notebook which i used everyday like an organizer (it even has our pic in it!), eling's hair clip with sparkling bling bling that helped me alot during bad hair days when i was in the States (reminds me of home and friends whenever i see it) and jl's pouch which was a vday present (yes, we used to give each other vday pressies) which contains my most impt & fav bling blings. Had my day off on thurs but bcos there was a private dinner, i had to go back to help out.

To note, Renford seldom come along for supper with us and straight after the night he

went to Goodfellows with us, he nearly quitted his job the next day.

It was like some earth-shaking news for everyone working in the Main Dining room

bcos not only him, but together with 8 other waiters.

Apparently, the working conditions have been such a torture to them, they actually have been plannign to leave.

Plus, on that day, one of the waiter Christopher found himself fired w/o any reason or explanation, that was the last straw.

Straight after breakfast, the 9 of them went back to their room and started packing;

they didnt even turn their tables properly for lunch setting yet.

Luckily, the Chief, captains and HR manager had a long talk with them

and all was settled.

mostly, they will be given off days and the Chief promised to improve the working environment.

Hee, (shocking) things happened almost everyday..

how interesting!

Btw, on sunday we sent DK off!

Actually, it was coincedence that Jon & Lily have lunch offs

(they waiters hardly have any meals off, so they hv never been to elsewhere much)

Hearing our praises of Carridge House, they were resolved to go

and so, i took lunch off too to visit my favourite restaruant!

And, just nice DK and his room were staying at Lily's room so it was

kinda a farewell party for him too!

Yes, it's another "jing bao" story..

DK and his roommate Ma Chao, both from China

studying at SMU were fired!
All becos they were stealing hours..

like they punch in early an hr for work and punch out late 2hrs after wk ended.

and bcos the disparity btw their wking hrs & their colleagues wking hrs varies so much,

they were caught and called to the Big Chef, Hans' office and were fired.

Not only did they lose their bonus of $500 which we will get upon completion of contract,

everyone knows about this news and they have to keep hidding from those people.

I think their entire "journey" here had many twists and turns;

while we were all assitants & contented being one,

they went to ask the Chief if they could turn into waiters

bcos they thought they will earn more.

However, that wasnt the case, work was tougher & more tiring

but the pay wasnt as satisfying.

So, out of spite, DK requested with HR to become a dishwasher.

Yes, DISHWASHER!

omg, i rather lose my bonus than be a dishwasher!

Ma Chao's gf, Guo Fei, also from China long became a dishwasher after she quarrelled

with the waiters & captains umpteen times and finally called it quits!

After that, Ma Chao also became a dishwasher after Fei & DK

and together, the boys started stealing hours

and ended their stay here.

Yup, so here is DK.

As usual, doing weird things, this is him shaving at our front porch while waiting for Jon

and Javier to come.

It was windy so i get to wear my nylons again!

DK took our money and paid for the bill bcos his was the most in the bill.

That means he tipped only a dollar plus!

that left us so embarrassed we ran out in a swift!

monster who wanted to try their chicken so much refused to go back ever again

bcos we're usually generous tippers, giving 20-25% even for lunch

as we earn by tips, we also know how impt the tips are to the waiters & also how much we shd tip.

But DK dont care!

he said the day before he & Ma Chao went to eat sth $9 each and DK said, let's give 10 or 11 each and the rest can be tips for the waitress

and Ma Chao said, why shd i tip? and let EXACTLY $9 on the bill..

OMG!!

The last sign of the resturant that i caught,

probably the last time too!

We sent DK to the ferry dock, he's going to St Ignace to take the Greyhound bus to Detroit.

And from there, he will be flying to NY!

At night, we had some Pinot Noir before going to Pink Pony for supper

His gf just left him outside to bullshit with us when they reached their home, Pontiac Lodge.

PART I

I'm finally managed to get Part 1 up, althou blogger is giving me loads of trouble ):

So, this is more like an update of the last week of june.

1st, up is the Little Stone Church that is just across the main street before our house.

In May, it was not open most of the time.

One day, Jl and I was walking past it after dinner at Downtown

so we thought we'll just go in and have a look.

we decided to sit down and chat for awhile, and we ended up

pretending we're praying. and trying to look sincere..HAHA

That was on friday, and on saturday, monster had breakfast off

and i had the whole day off so we went to

THE PANCAKE HOUSE AND GRILL!!

Typical American setting, so patriotic!

Generous serving of frozen strawberry and ice cream on steaming hot Waffles!

Omelette! With cheddar and American cheese!

Although our cafeteria serves eggs every morning, but never omelette

only scabbled eggs ):

In the afternoon after monster is done with lunch,

we went to Windermere Doghouse which is part of & opposite Windermere Hotel.

It is a private property, only if you buy the food and drinks there then you can enter.

But, that day the store was closed..

so we, like anyone else, went to get some BIGGG burger from

Mighty Mac Burger and spent some time under the sun!

See, what monster's holding is only half of the burger..but it already looks HUGE right?!

Not forgetting to mention, i chanced upon a bookstore the other day and

realised the books sold here are relatively cheap!

While walking home, i took monster to an Irish shop that Jl and i have patronised but he hasnt.

The highlight of the shop has got to be Guinness,

which it claims to be the best Irish export!

Continuing our walk, monster and i decided to enter London Square,
a shop midway of downtown and my house that we passed by a zillion
times but never enter before.
it's a great antique shop!

Doesn't this wedding gown looks haunted? like it has some spirit in/with it?

Apparently, it belonged to Stella King Estate, someone who contributed greatly to this town.

it feels like christmas everyday!
Nutcrackers!

My favourite since young ever since i watched The Nutcracker!

Did you know this shop even has a lifesize nutcracker that is limited edition,

only 500 in this world and it comes with a certificate!

At 1st, monster and i didnt even take a 2nd look at this until i suddenly rmb!

These are home for the squirrels!

Here, it is very common to see hare, squirrels, chipmunk running around.

Like the pic below, the tree is actually in the garden of one of the houses.

so the people living there gave the squirrels wooden homes, hanged water baskets for them

and feed them regularly.

At Jockey's, we've a chipmunk which we called "Our Pet" who visits us everyday

and we will take the sunflower seeds from the mixed nuts bottles we give the guests when they're drinking beer and feed it.

It's really not afraid of humans but i think it will die soon lei cos the nuts are spicy.

Sunday night, well spent at Pink Pony

after a long day's of hard work.

Immersed in the melodious voice of the female vocalist of the live band,

we pampered ourselves with the Pony burgers .

I was too lazy to dress up cos im so tired!

I wasn't tryin to take pic of the fat man!
it's actually the bar! the interiors which the picture doesnt reflect much of it
bcos of the poor lightings.
The resturants here paid really close attention and efforts in the decorations.
Just like the SeaBiscuit cafe that was in my previous post, i guessed most of the
restaurants here are related to horses bcos it's like the symbol of the island.Unlike Sea Biscuit, i couldnt take more/nice pics of Pink Pony as we usually go at night
bcos of the ambience and band,
but for SeaBiscuit we can go in the day and at night,
doesnt make a diff.
But, you can see the pink pony hanging by the ceiling right?

we got so addicted to work, we even folded the napkins that were on the table

into dinner napkins we have to fold in the resturants we work at.

And, after having so much good food especially for supper,

of cos i have to keep fit and prevent looking like a boar when i reach s'pore.

so on tuesday night when i had night off, i went to for a jog by the lake.

it's 8 miles (13km) to cover the circumference of the island and i did half (:

Finally, the long-awaited off day is finally here!

Today, we had lunch at the House Carridge by the Waterfront,

the place is fabulous!

Baby blue tablecloth, coupled with vibrant floral napkins and light mustard beach chairs

made the atmosphere one of the best i've ever enjoyed.

together with the gentle chilly sea breeze and warm sunlight,

that has got to be the best restaurant on this island.

i'll dedicate one whole post to TODAY,

so this post is part 2 of what i've been doing on the past week.

I have been taking so many pics,

i need to break the original one post into 2!

Ever since 26 of June when it suddenly dawned upon me that i've

only exactly ONE MONTH left,

i've been going out everyday,

wasting not one minute of my spare time.

And surprisingly, i wasn't tired!

One of the best days here had to be the day we went horseback riding!

Yes you heard me right, horse riding!

Yoohoo!

My horse is called Ginger, a pretty chocolate brown mare.

I love its name because it feels so warm and easy to call out.

The ride was super fun,

we were so scared when we were asked to go up onto the horse.

And me being the first, you can imagine my mixed feeling of excitment

and trepidation!

We initially went to Jack's Livery stable which is just a stone's throw away from our home,

but they didnt have enough beginner horses for 6 of us.

and while we walked to Cindy's stable at Downtown,

we went Nicholas of Irish blood but stayed at Argentina.

So spontaneously, he joined us.

His horse, BlackJack led the way with my Ginger following behind,

and monster's Cody behind mine.

Fish and chips, but they used Michigan Whitefish here so it's awesome!

and that makes monster scared of them.

Apparently, this is like the only spicy food they have here.

and 2months of not touching chilli makes my stomach weak

and have tummyache the next day whenever i eat these for supper!

BUT it doesnt stop me! HA

Hello!

I finally have an off day and so finally found some time to update!

Just received my paycheck today, $800 for 2 weeks' work

plus 200+ cash tips.

thou not the highest among my friends like hc and jon,

still felt quite satisfied.

1st paycheck received for being waitress (with income uncertainty),

happy that it's more than being an assistant.

kinda made me feel that i've made the right choice to agreeing to the job change.

Jl and girls are quite poor thing, only get ard 400+ cos

there's more and more assistants now

so the captain gave them lesser shifts.

lesser hours/shifts not only yield lesser pay, but

without hitting OT, their pay is also constant at 10/hr, no 1.5 times.

hee, enough of pays and checks!

wanna blog about my shopping loot from the shopping trip at Traverse City.

We took the last ferry and stayed at an inn for the night,

at 6am, our lady driver Margaret came and picked us up and

we began our journey to Traverse City which is 2-3 hrs drive and Chelovoix.

The malls there are HUGE, and i've uploaded the pics on facebook.

hello!

it's been some time since my last post..

because i changed job!

haha, yes..i was working at the main Dining Room previously

as waiter's assistant and now

i'm being posted to the Jockey Club to be a waitress.

haha, like no difference right?

but there is, in the pay!

i used to clock hours at usd10 per hr, but now

im in a tipping restaurant so the tips i get daily are very much my salary

because my hourly pay is like usd2 or 3 per hr only! ((:

Jockey Club is a nice place to work in but im very much on my own..

and needless to say, im the only chinese here ):

and the working hrs are not really fixed so

i cant use the net as much as last time ):

went traverse city to shop for 2 days last week..

Hello world!

Been some time since i last blogged, work is just so tiring everyday

ytd we just slept through breakfast w/o

even informing the supervisor cos there's no phone connection

and mainly cos we didnt care.

HA (:

So d past few days, we had an event for 3 days for the Winsome Women.

it's some church-like event just for the women

who joined the community.

and boy, were the group big.

but luckily, they had everything the same

includes appetitizer, entree and desserts so work was made alittle easier.

there was the stage and everything and i was astounded to find that

one of d waiters, Lance, is a pastor at the church

and he even went on the stage to lead them in singing some songs

which jl and i hid in somewhere laughing at them being so serious.

HAHA

The waiters even had to run out with their huge-ass trays to make a grand

entrance.

You may think it sounds stupid but they were more than elated to do so!

they acted like little kids running padding baton.

I wanted to take some pics of them in the kitchen but was unable cos i gotta

be at the main dining room in case any customer needs anything.

so i took some photos at work (:

oh ya, and lots of food photos ahead!

okay, this is me w/o makeup or any grooming.

cos there's no time, and no one for to see! HAHA

these 2 waiters are crazy! forever singing and dancing around me,

especially the left one. he's called george but i call him GECKO cos earlier on, i

went to the butterfly museum and saw a lizard that's called gecko and i tot he looks like it!

Now i realised black ppl take photos, the photos also become as dark.

HAHAHAHAHAH!

The Winsome Women's desserts, looks better in "person"

the desserts during buffet lunch which we always steal and eat.. HAHA!

the highlight of work!

they make very nice cookies too, look like subway ones

but they're dried cranberry and macademia nuts in it!

yummy, makes me drool

haha, i'm always standin near the dessert stall so i keep eating!

nice right, so pretty makes it so hard to eat it!

muhaha, these are the desserts that we got almost every night.

sometimes the dessert ppl make too much, sometimes we just take and go

to the cafeteria to enjoy.

hahah, the best has got to be the Pecan Ball which is the hotel's most sought-

after desssert. but everytime i gte to eat it, i forgot to bring my cam ):

so here, we only hv Cheesecake trio, Strawberry Choc martini and

fruit platter.

this is the uber-nice cookies i was talking abt!

with dried cranberry and macademia nuts in it!

we always keep some for ourselves when the desserts chefs/ppl not ard

and we go home to eat it while drinking tea, like tai-tai!

look what we got, when we went downtown the other day

PepperRidge farm's Milanos in RASPBERRY!

dont think we got that in s'pore.

and we went to the bank to change quaters for our dryers and wahsing machines,

they've free flow of pops there!

and the honey suckers we brot home from cafeteria to prevent us from having sore throats!

lastly, vanilla crisp from the buffet too, fabulously yummy!

oh ya, and the biggest maltesers i've even seen and it's cheap too!

because the weather here is too dry, i finished my new lip balm and bot 2 from the Drug store.

Burt's bees but they're not very suitable for here,

so i ordered from my lipstuff.com, 14 of them!

hahaha!

sneaking into grand hotel rooms (:

During work on the day before, i heard from the China guy that

they went to explore the Grand Hotel when they just arrived.

because it is a seasonal hotel, it only starts operation on 1st May and

they arrived on 26th April i think.

So they went around to see the rooms and play around.

after work, i pulled jl jon and monster to walk around and

we realised that all the room are designed differently!

but they're all very colorful and cheery (:

what's best is that all the rooms that are vacant for the moment have their doors open,

so we can just enter to take a look and some photos (:

but cos we were in our uniforms, and it's not appropiate to walk ard the hotel in that

we only went to a few rooms to take some quick snaps,

and there it is! (:(:

the highlight is the wallpaper, so many ships

they look so cute, like made for "young gentlemen".

okay, there is menu at our dining area for children and they made it pink

for "young ladies" and green for "young gentlemen" but the contents are exactly

the same. it's damn lame la, what for?!

the pretty room! it makes every girl feel like a princess (:(:

and we decided we'll change into home clothes after work 1 day and explore ard!

YAY, im back with pics of my daily life (:

Food first!

haha, so we settle or 3 meals at Captain Charlie's everyday

this is something we eat daily

and althou they have rice cos the Jamaicans (aka the blacks) eat alot of rice

it is usaully fried/mash potatoes and bread for staples

meat meat meat and very little veggies

like corn and peas only.

where's my caixin and tao-gay?!

my stupid bf with a evern stupidier suit for waiters

OMG!

and the china ppl here are forever stealing food to eat!

they're not very nice!

seriously, we throw alot of food away each day

cos they just keep giving us upsized versions of food servings

despite us screaming "ALITTLE WILL DO!"

and, the cooks always give us the puzzled looks when we say that

the road which we have to take everyday to work and back home

nice scenery, except that it's freezing cold

i reckon it's prolly 10deg now

okay, i tried loading the pics here but they're taking too long

so i loaded them up on facebook (:

my san fran and some daily-life photos, that is.

Life so far is, good.

i suppose.

i was rather skeptical abt waitressing cos i really dreaded the job

but so far, it's fine.

just simple brainless job like pouring coffee tea and water

basically assisting the waiter

and to be paid 10usd per hr is good enough for a job like this

nonetheless, whereever we go, there bound to be politics.

and this time roung, politics among waiters.

like we're under their section and so we're "not suppose"

to help other waiters but the Chief (the over-all i/c) wants us to walk ard

BLAH BLAH BLAH

and ytd, we worked all b/f lunch and dinner

it took the hell out of me and my poor feet ):

and this norning briefing, we heard we're gonna wait on the tables

ie carrying all the heavy trays but we get to earn the meal coupons

which means we get to earn more.

whatever.

oh ya, and i got to stay with 2 other girls besides jl.

one is s'porean, samantha and the other vietnamese, queena

and everyone calls her queen. HAHA

they're quite nice and easy to live with

considering we see each other almost every min

working and living in the same place

and call us turtles, we spent most of our nights talking

after hotbaths rather than shutting ourselves up by the laptops

mainly cos there is no internet connection.

i think it's really a blessing in disguise (:

and the little fun things we did everyday, such as racing to our house

cos it was so freezing cold outside.

i like my life here, thou it's out-of-touch with the world.

Hey peeps,

I finally reached Mackinaw Island.

OMG, this place is superb!

the whole island is like a Desperate Housewives setting, everything is so low-rise and

in pretty colors and so antique-ky.

BUT it's freezing cold here ):

it was like 2 or 4 deg when we reached and cos we gotta take a ferry to the island,

we were all running towards a makeshift house by the sea

to wait for the ferry.

it was damn hilarious. HAHA.

okay, so we had a great time at San Fran, despite the much dreaded 11-hr flight

which turned out to be pretty okay cos

we're sleeping away most of the time.

As hc had planned, we went cycling in San Fran.

YES, CYCLING.

hc said, " you havent been to San Fran if you've not cycled to the Golden Bridge"

and so we did.

It was darn tiring and we had to get over a few slopes

where i just gave up and pushed my bike.

The journey to the bridge was so pleasing to the eye,

fresh beautiful flowers by the roadside, cooling air brushing through your face as u cycle,

and oh-so-sweet candy houses along the seaside.

But, the big red bridge is just fine..

no difference seeing it in the 98deg mtv or in person.

HEE.

and i realise, the 7-11 here is quite cheap

unlike back home where they charge 40% more.

and we lived in chinatown, but we passed by a couple of black streets on the way

and it's damn scary at night ):

so, the flights to detroit and pellston were rather terrible cos it was quite jerky

but as usual, i concussed and couldnt

care less abt the turbulences. MUHAHA

but i was shocked wide awake when i reached Pellston.

the airport is so small it is porbably like our BK and coffee bean area at Terminal 2?

OMG!

and when we took wolverine stage bus to the ferry dock,

we passed by like less than 10 houses despite travelling for more than 20mins?

it's super rural, like those movies

where there's only one motel sitting out of no where.

and a couple/a grp of friends lost their way and gotta stay the night

in the motel and there they met with some crazy murderer.

yes, it's exactly like that.

and i've no doubts that those movies are prolly shoot there.

HAHA.

It was freezing cold, to the point my internal organs are shivering.

HAHA.

and i swear, my face was really frozen.

things were alittle upset when we reached becos we had to do all those paperworks

and go for briefings instead of what we thought,

like they'll show us our room, let us settle down, take a nap and then we talk.

instead, it was the other way round and we finally managed to move into a small room.

there, things take a turn (:

the carelady, alma, was so kind to us.

she gave us hot water flasks, hangers and to me, even gloves.

and she even brought us to the church to get 2nd-hand coats that

peopl had donated to the church.

they are no rubbish, they're nice wll-maintained coats like GAP, Aerospate.

so happy!

and she even treated us to dinner at Village Inn, a nice quiet vintage place (:

things are very expensive in this town so it was really nice of her to do that.

we were so touched!

and today, queena and samantha reached and we moved in to another room

that accomodates 4 ppl.

it's bigger and we have a bathroom to ourselves!

and to our surprise, alma passed us a tv set! (:(:

it means a world to us cos there's no internet connection at our place

cos our dorm is further away from the hotel.

so we cant tap on the wireless connection unlike the boys living at the quarters

behind the hotel.

and there's no reception for m1 and singtel here,

but we'll be getting int'l call cards soon (:

so happy things are better, tml we'll start work
